EPIC Toss Cornhole Tournament sets record with 24 competing teams

The EPIC Center announced the success of this year's EPIC Toss Cornhole Tournament, which took place on Oct. 5, at the Whitford Plantation in New Bern.


A total of 24 teams registered to compete, marking the highest number of participants in the event’s history. The teams engaged in a double-elimination competition that showcased skill and determination.


The team "Over the Top" emerged as the champions, remaining undefeated throughout the tournament and securing first place. They were awarded custom cornhole boards and a cash prize. "Slip and Slide" finished second, while "Saggy Bags" claimed the third spot, completing the podium.

Emma Barnes, the Executive Director of the EPIC Center, expressed her delight, saying, “The turnout this year was incredible, and it was heartwarming to see so many people come together in support of the EPIC Center. The energy and enthusiasm from both the teams and the community were amazing. Events like these help us to further our mission of removing barriers to motherhood and providing essential resources to women and families.”


During the event, Sheila and her baby Jessie shared a touching story about how the EPIC Center had supported her during her pregnancy, providing the care and resources that made a significant impact on their lives. Her testimony underscored the importance of the EPIC Center’s work within the community.
